A shortage of relief milkers and farmhands is putting Colac district farmers under pressure, forcing them to consider tough calls to protect their businesses.

SHORT STAFFED: Alvie dairy farmer Brooke Lane says dairy farmers across the south-west are struggling to find relief milkers and farmhands. While the problem is historical, Brooke says a lack of backpacker workers had dramatically reduced the labour pool.
