Man charged over stabbing

Police have charged and bailed a Colac man who allegedly stabbed another man near Colac’s Wilson Street.

Investigators say the two men, aged 24 and 25, were involved in an altercation at a Colac venue about 10pm on Saturday.

A Colac CIU detective said the two men met up hours later for a fight when the accused allegedly produced a small paring-like knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen.

The wound was about 8cm deep and reportedly nicked the victim’s liver. He was hospitalised and discharged days later.

Police interviewed and charged the alleged offender with recklessly causing serious injury and associated injuries.
