Club evolves in past century

HITTING 100 YEARS: Colac Mallet Sports Club is celebrating its 100-year anniversary today. The club will host a celebration and games at their Church Street home today.

Winchelsea’s Nick Jordan-Hill knows the vital role that doctors play in small communities, and the lived experience is helping shape his own career path.

Nick lives at a sheep farm with cropping land north of Winchelsea’s township, and has called the area home all his life.

Nick is also one of four Deakin postgraduate medical students undertaking a 42-week clinical placement at Colac Area Health this year.

A light shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Colac City Band yesterday.

The band played a concert at the Lake Colac Foreshore rotunda from 2pm to celebrate 160 years of the Colac Botanic Gardens.

The gardens were established in 1865, with 2025 marking the 160th year since the land overlooking Lake Colac was set aside “at the call of the people”.
