Man injured after truck and ute collide

A heavy-haulage tow-truck removes a truck from a crash scene on the intersection of Pound Road and Deans Creek Road, Colac.

A man is in hospital and a truck driver has received two infringement notices after a two-vehicle crash in Colac this afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene of a crash between a truck and a car at the intersection of Corner of Pound Road and Deans Creek Road just after 3.30pm today (Tuesday).

Sergeant Shaun Johnson said a 49-year-old male driving a truck allegedly failed to give way travelling in a westerly direction on Pound Road.

“He has collided into a ute that was travelling in a northerly direction,” he said.

“The driver of that vehicle is a 29-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and was conveyed to Colac Hospital where he’s getting treatment.”

Police have issued two infringement notices to the truck driver in relation to failing to give way and careless driving.

“It’s disappointing to see, with Operation Aris that we have running statewide over the Labour Day weekend, it’s disappointing to see an incident like this. It could have been easily a fatality,” Sgt Johnson said.

Council staff are headed to the scene to spread sand on diesel fuel which has spilled over the roadway, casing a traffic hazard.
