GET LOW: Birregurra netballers are participating in the 57 Squat Challenge, where they complete 57 squats a day, representing the 57 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every day. They have raised more than $3000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Over more than a decade of scouting, Colac’s Han

Over more than a decade of scouting, Colac’s Hannah Warton has gained lifelong skills, friends, and memories.

But perhaps the most special of all is the 18-year-old’s recent six-day trip to Canberra for a once in a lifetime camp on the grounds of Government House.

Hannah, a 3rd/4th Colac Scout Group Rover, was among 1400 Scouts from across Australia to attend the first and only Governor General Camp last month.

ANYONE FOR ULTIMATE FRISBEE? 🥏

A local school teacher and state ultimate frisbee representative is on the lookout for players to bring the sport to Colac.

Trinity College’s Todd Klein has been involved with ultimate frisbee for over a decade since his university days in Ballarat, even getting the chance to represent Victoria at the Australian Masters Ultimate Championships last year.

Similar to American football, points are scored in ultimate frisbee by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone.

New Australian citizen Adhya Yatheskumar says it feels bittersweet officially becoming an Australian and leaving behind her Kiwi roots.

The 22-year-old and her brother Ananth were two of 13 new Australian citizens welcomed into the community yesterday in a Colac Otway Shire citizenship ceremony.

The 13 citizens, including 10 adults and three children, moved from Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, India, the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.

Tuesday's hit-and-run driver was the second offender to kindly leave his bumper at the scene of the crime.

The driver T-boned a woman at Murray and Armstrong streets, but in his hurry to flee the scene he apparently forgot that the detached bumper bore a very important clue — his number plate.

Our thoughts are with the female driver. Luckily, it shouldn’t be hard to bring the rogue motorist to justice.

It follows a separate incident at Colac sports grounds last month, when a driver crashed through fences at Western Oval and Lake Oval.

That alleged offender also did police a big favour, leaving the vehicle’s bumper amid the smashed-up gate at Lake Oval. Police charged the driver not long afterwards.

Let’s hope that dodgy drivers start developing more sense and stay away from behind the wheel in the first place. But if they can’t, they should kindly keep leaving their calling cards.

It’s fitting that Western Eagles champion Lorrai

It’s fitting that Western Eagles champion Lorraine Mahoney, nee Duynhoven, will celebrate 300 club games on the same day the Eagles face Simpson.

Matches between Simpson and the Western Eagles have become more of a family reunion than a football-netball rivalry for Colac district’s Duynhoven clan.

The children and grandchildren of Princetown’s Tony and the late Josephine Duynhoven make up a large chunk of the clubs’ football and netball sides, both as players and coaches.
