Interleague teams finalised

The Colac District Football Netball League has finalised its junior teams for this weekend’s interleague return in Colac.

The league will host regular rival Central Highlands in three games of football and three games of netball at South Colac’s Elliminyt Recreation Reserve on Sunday.

All football teams have named emergencies in case there are injuries in tomorrow’s games.

Under-13 football coach Adam McNamara said selectors had faced a difficult time finalising squads this week.

“I’ve been very impressed with the boys during the selection process,” he said.

“They listen well, they’ve got really good skill level and their endeavour has been great.

“Unfortunately there has to be kids that miss out which is the hardest part, hopefully they respond well and have another crack next year.”

McNamara said it would be an exciting experience for the league’s youngest rep side.

“It would be the first chance to play representative footy for a lot of them,” he said.

“There are a handful that played in the 13s last year, but for the rest of them it’s their first time.

“But I’m keen as well, I can’t wait.

“It was pouring down and freezing in Buninyong last year so hopefully we can get some better conditions.”

Football starts with the under-13 game at 11am, before the under-15s at 12.45pm and the under-18s at 2.30pm.

League netball official Tracey Tann said the CDFNL’s junior netball sides would be the same as the “Championship division” sides which competed at the Central Western Association Championships earlier this month.

The 13-and-under netball starts at 11am, before the 15-and-unders at noon, and the 17-and-unders at 1pm.
