Tuesday's hit-and-run driver was the second offender to kindly leave his bumper at the scene of the crime.

The driver T-boned a woman at Murray and Armstrong streets, but in his hurry to flee the scene he apparently forgot that the detached bumper bore a very important clue — his number plate.

Our thoughts are with the female driver. Luckily, it shouldn’t be hard to bring the rogue motorist to justice.

It follows a separate incident at Colac sports grounds last month, when a driver crashed through fences at Western Oval and Lake Oval.

That alleged offender also did police a big favour, leaving the vehicle’s bumper amid the smashed-up gate at Lake Oval. Police charged the driver not long afterwards.

Let’s hope that dodgy drivers start developing more sense and stay away from behind the wheel in the first place. But if they can’t, they should kindly keep leaving their calling cards.

It’s fitting that Western Eagles champion Lorrai

It’s fitting that Western Eagles champion Lorraine Mahoney, nee Duynhoven, will celebrate 300 club games on the same day the Eagles face Simpson.

Matches between Simpson and the Western Eagles have become more of a family reunion than a football-netball rivalry for Colac district’s Duynhoven clan.

The children and grandchildren of Princetown’s Tony and the late Josephine Duynhoven make up a large chunk of the clubs’ football and netball sides, both as players and coaches.

A 54-year-old woman is in critical condition after

A 54-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was attacked by two dogs at Winchelsea this morning.

Paramedics raced to the scene at about 4.45am this morning and transported the woman to a Geelong hospital.

But the new initiative needs your support.

Colac Salvation Army’s Josiah Van Niekerk said funds raised directly from this month’s Red Shield Appeal would help the charity create a healthy environment for the youth of Colac.

Emerging Colac Imperials footballer Will Cust says he is ready to dive head first into his rehabilitation from a torn ACL after his breakout season came to a crashing halt.

The 19-year-old had managed just two senior games in the previous three years, before earning a regular senior spot this season.

But his season came to an end after just three games this year, rupturing his ACL in the first five minutes of the Imps' loss to Irrewarra-Beeac on April 20.

The partner of late Otway Districts captain Aaron

The partner of late Otway Districts captain Aaron Mahoney says she never envisaged the community reaction to seeing their son Toby make his CDFNL debut in his dad’s famous number 36 jumper.

Emma Craddock said it was an emotional time when the news blew up on social media on Saturday night, almost exactly nine years after Aaron died as a result of an underlying heart condition.

The Otway Districts Football Netball Club retired Aaron’s number 36 following his tragic on-field death in May, 2015.

But the red-and-blue 36 was seen taking the field once again on Saturday morning during Otway’s under-14.5 clash against Simpson.
