Community sporting clubs run not so much on the smell of an oily rag as the heart and soul of their volunteers. You see them on the gate, in the canteen, timekeeping, scoring, strapping ankles, tending the bar – reliable reminders that the ground and court aren’t the only place you find country footy and netball’s stars.
Duo’s above-and-beyond care
Colac Imperials’ Julie Finch and Sue Whitson have volunteered to watch the children of the club’s footballers and netballers while they play for over a decade.
