Colac business owner Rhea Sabine hopes to represent young people, women and business owners in the community if she gets elected to council in October.

Rhea, who owns Sabine Hair Alchemy on Murray Street, has announced her intention to stand as a candidate for the Colac Otway Shire Council at the local government election in just under four months.

Colac Fire Brigade captain Daniel Williams is not happy with the proposed plans for the Lake Colac foreshore, which would force the brigade to relocate its training track.

Colac Otway Shire Council has endorsed a draft Colac Botanic Gardens master plan and is seeking community feedback before it goes back to the council for approval.

The draft plan includes the removal of the Colac Fire Brigade running track where the district’s firemen and women have trained for decades, with the Central Reserve Master Plan, adopted in 2022, allocating space for a CFA training facility.
