Ground-breaking day for Colac

TO THE FUTURE: Bulla chief Allan Hood, operations general manager Kylie Armstrong and founding family member and board chairman Ian Sloan broke ground on the dairy company’s new manufacturing site this week. Once complete, Colac’s sites will provide jobs to more than 900 people in the community.

It has taken the club stalwart 18 years to reach 300 games since making her A-Grade debut in 2007.

They say they have seen a marked increase in crashes at Conns Lane over the past three years and say action is needed to stop travellers using the road as a connection to the coast.

A community petition calling for “better social housing options for Colac” has garnered hundreds of signatures in less than 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the city’s mayor has repeated calls for a proposed housing development at Pound Road to be integrated throughout the community instead.

It comes amid community debate on the proposal that highlights immediate need versus the long-term implications of concentrated social housing.
