    Colac students are taking to the streets for Walk Colac students are taking to the streets for Walk Safely to School Week in a move to apply healthy habits.

@colacps started things off on Monday, braving chilly conditions for a safe and active journey to school.

The group was led by Colac Police Senior Constable Steph Ward, along with other students, parents, teachers and community members.

Colac Fire Brigade’s Andrew Bath said the brigade was trying to raise public awareness about the controversial new Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund that passed Parliament last week.

Colac SES Unit’s 44 volunteers, along with other district SES volunteers, are being recognised today for Wear Orange Wednesday.

The day of thanks is held annually during National Volunteer Week, acknowledging the contributions of more than 5000 SES volunteers in Victoria who serve their communities.
