Colac Otway Shire councillor Kate Hanson wants to say thank you to the community that has supported her during her eight years serving in a councillor position.

Kate, who will not stand at this month’s election, joined council in 2016, before being re-elected in 2020. She spent the first two years of her second term, 2020 to 2022, as mayor.

Kate said it was a real honour to be elected to council and serve as mayor for two years.

Colac Tigers’ Kelsey Lee says she was unsure if she would even play netball this season let alone win a B Grade premiership.

Motherhood put the start of Lee’s season on hold, after welcoming her first son Archie six months ago.

Lee said she contemplated playing netball this season but quickly found the urge to make a return to the court in round 12.

Ten basketballers will make their Country Basketba

Ten basketballers will make their Country Basketball League debuts with the @ColacKookas when the season kicks off this weekend.

Both the men’s and the women’s squads will field new-look sides under new men’s coach Jordan Lingard and women’s coach Todd Klein.

Larpent farmer and Dairy Farmers Victoria presiden

Larpent farmer and Dairy Farmers Victoria president Mark Billing has welcomed State Government drought assistance for struggling south west farmers but says decent rainfall is still needed for the ultimate relief.

The government announced a $13.53-million support package this week for farmers impacted by drought conditions in the south west. This includes farmers in the Colac Otway, Corangamite and Surf Coast areas.

Their aim is to get thousands of Aussies to go for a sunrise ocean dip and raise $1 million for mental health.
