Youth group’s launch proves Dynamic

ORGANISERS have hailed the launch of Colac’s new Dynamic youth group as a success.

Dynamic – Diverse Youth Networking Against discriMination In Colac – unveiled its banner at an event which attracted more than 150 young Colac and district people.

Colac Area Health youth development worker Emma Warton said the event, which was at Colac’s Straight Shooters, was a “huge success”

“The event was a celebration of diversity in Colac and a challenge to discrimination of all forms, including sexism, racism and homophobia,” Ms Warton said.

“The event started at 12 noon on Saturday and had young people lining up to get in,” she said.

“Within the first hour there were 90 young people at the event enjoying free pool, pizza and entertainment.”

Apollo Bay’s Jack Fillmore and his band kicked off the day and Colac’s Radio Silencio performed at the end of the celebration of diversity.

Colac Otway Shire mayor Brian Crook and Warrnambool youth group YUMCHA also attended.

Ms Warton said the large turnout showed people wanted more youth-friendly events in Colac.

“The incredible positive response from young people in regards to the banner and support for its message was amazing,” she said.

Ms Warton said people interested in joining Dynamic could contact her at Colac Neighbourhood House or join Dynamic’s Facebook page.

Oh for heavens sake Andy I think you and Joel Creasy are using this as a publicity stunt. I am gay and I was there on Saturday. Stop making everything about you!!!

One small bunch of idiots does not speak for the town as a whole. They obviously waited outside for someone to have a go at and all the carry on is doing is feeding their egos.
The MAJORITY of residents are not homophobic, the MAJORITY of youths are not homophobic.
The MAJORITY of residents recognise that what these idiots did was wrong, we do not support or condone their actions and the MAJORITY of residents would never have considered joining in.
This is part of a well known bunch of idiots in this town, and the MAJORITY of us want nothing to do with them.

Serious? A success? I don’t think so! No mention of Joel Creasey in this article whatsoever… you people are weak!
