  1. As much as I love those old trees if there is a real risk to the public maybe it is just time to bite the bullet and replace them (and maybe with something better suited to the Australian climate)?
Speaking of dereliction, when is the council going to insist that necessary repairs are undertaken to Balnagowan mansion? Although I am a Geelong boy I spent a number of years in Colac as a child in the 1970’s and have a great affection for that old house. To see its current condition after many years of neglect is a disgrace. (The last time I saw the house was in March 2014 and, if what I saw on the weekend is any indication it’s only getting worse.) Council should force the current owners to see to this before constructing any more units (if possible). Unlike City of Greater Geelong Colac-Otway Shire council and residents seem to respect their architectural heritage and it would be a shame to see the jewel in the crown lost through dereliction-by-neglect (like Geelong’s Ritz Flats).

  2. Who care what the arborist says… listen to the public, we’re the 1’s that have to live with the danger and consequence’s of the tree’s.
Also, look at it from another angle- If all the tree’s are of roughly the same age it’ll look a lot better.
But I guess it might be hard to fund the clearing and replanting since so much extra money went into Blue Water.
