The Colac district community is mourning the death of a Werneth woman following a crash between a car and a passenger train at Cressy.
Rosalie Mitchell was the only occupant of a car hit by the Outlander train shortly before 5pm on Friday at a level crossing at Urchers Road, about 40 kilometres north of Colac.
Mrs Mitchell died at the scene of the crash.
Investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing.
Mrs Mitchell lived at Werneth with her husband and two teenage daughters running the sheep stud Gemini Prime Lamb Sires.
Members of the livestock community expressed their grief following the news of Mrs Mitchell’s death on Facebook.
The train was travelling from South Australia to Melbourne and there were no other injuries reported to emergency service workers.
