Recruits to cover Hawks’ outs

Apollo Bay’s Jesse Brown is among a host of Hawks who have retired.

Apollo Bay football captain Jarrod Wight says the club’s experienced recruits will be able to cover the coastal club’s swag of retiring players.

Star forward Casey McDonald announced he had retired following the end of the 2017 season, and Wight revealed that a host of other Hawks had hung up their boots from senior football over the summer, including former coach Marty White, reliable defender Justin Robbins and former best-and-fairest winner Jesse Brown.

“Jesse Brown is only 29 but he’s had a few injuries,” Wight said.

“It’s disappointing to lose these guys because they’ve all been great players for the club,” he said.
