Kindergarten asbestos removed

A $400,000 redevelopment of Colac’s Winifred Nance kindergarten still has no set finishing date, after contractors removed asbestos from the site last week.

Colac’s Winifred Nance kindergarten is clear of asbestos, but there’s still no timeframe for when children and teachers will be able to return to their redeveloped building.

Colac Otway Shire Council’s development and community services general manager Ian Seuren said the council would keep the Winifred Nance community in the loop about developments in the planning process.

“Council provided an update to kindergarten families last week regarding the completion of asbestos work and has scheduled a meeting with the kindergarten community next month after the holidays,” he said last week.

“Council will discuss the next stage of the project before the end of the month and provide another update to families at the start of the term, followed by the meeting, where families will be able to ask officers any further questions they might have.
