Otways residents are increasingly stuck in blackouts without mobile phone service, as concern grows for the safety of community members and tourists in emergencies.
SIGNAL LOSS: Blackouts pull plug on mobile phone service
SERVICE CONCERNS: Johanna’s Erika Nash says a mobile phone tower in the area loses service after 30 minutes during a power outage, causing concern for the safety of residents and tourists during emergencies. The tower is on the Great Ocean Road near Red Johanna Road.

As usual, boilerplate and deflection from Telstra. Mobile sites with persistently unreliable power should have generators at the ready. It’s simple and isn’t terribly costly.
